After one month of collecting donations, Go With The Flow’s fundraiser has closed-but the campaign is far from done! Now that we have fundraised to combat the insufficient funding of Virginia Senate Bill 232, it’s time to ADVOCATE! The best way to advocate is to speak with your legislator; your voice has power, USE IT! Attached below is a script you can follow to call and/or email your legislators. Hello,

My name is [NAME], and I am one of your constituents. I live in [CITY] and my zipcode is [ZIPCODE].

I am reaching out to discuss Senate Bill 232. Per Virginia Senate Bill 232, Virginia middle and high schools are required to provide free menstrual products in every school restroom, however, one thing VA SB 232 doesn’t provide is funding for these products. Insufficient funding leaves many of our schools incapable of supplying their restrooms, and, consequently, 1 in 4 menstruating students will miss school during their periods due to period poverty.

I am asking you, [Representative’s name] to stand up for Virginia’s menstruating students and support a budget amendment to Senate Bill 232 in the upcoming General Assembly session. A budget amendment would enable our schools to finally fill the product dispensers the state required, and support their menstruating students.

Thank you for your time and consideration, I will be following this issue closely.

Ready to take your advocacy to the next level and meet with legislators in person? Feel free to contact me via [email protected] for everything you’ll need for an in-person meeting: A fact sheet, summary of the Go With The Flow campaign, etc.

It’s time for our lawmakers to follow through on the dispensers they were eager to require, but neglected to support, and get Virginia students back to going with their flows!

Don’t wait for change, be the changemaker!
